It hasn’t always been apparent that Gail Weingast would one day become a doctor, given that she began her educational journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Tufts University. However, it wasn’t long after that she enrolled at the Boston University School of Medicine, where she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast, MD in 1976. That has been good fortune for the medical profession, since she has grown and learned to become one of the best radiologists in the profession.
Throughout a medical career that now covers nearly a half century, Dr. Gail Weingast has practiced in a number of hospitals. Currently, she serves as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has been more approximately half of her career. She is now Backus Hospital’s Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and, in that position, she has led that department into its current status as a premier medical facility.It took a long time to get to Connecticut and Backus Hospital, where she is now considered among the best in New England and the nation.
